This mini UFO quadcopter by Eachine brings a lot of value for such a tiny drone.
For about $20 you and your kids can be on your way to having a fun-filled time flying this mini drone. It definitely does not have all the bells and whistles but if you are just looking to get some flying time in, this could be a great choice.
In this review, we’re going to go over its features as well as some pros and cons and tips on how to get the most out of it.
Who Is Eachine?
Eachine is committed to bringing you the best possible drone at the best possible price. They recognize that technology is going through an exciting transformation right now and they try to implement this in their drones.
They also recognize that drones have become increasingly popular lately and they try to give their customers top quality products at competitive prices. And they have certainly done that with this E010 model.
They pride themselves and taking customer feedback too quickly improve upon their own products.
This E010 mini UFO is built for one thing and one thing only, flying. As we mentioned, this is a simple quadcopter at a relatively cheap price compared to drones in general.
You are not going to get a ton of features like you would with more expensive models but that is OK this could be great for younger kids or first-time fliers who want to get used to flying a drone before spending more money.
While it doesn’t have many extras, it does have three features that are critical for beginners.
The remote has a one key return button which is great for younger kids or in experienced fliers. Simply press the button and the drone if connected correctly to your remote, will fly back home.
This is an excellent feature that really helps you from losing the drone.
The remote also has a 360-degree roll button which is often sought-after when flying drones. Because flying up and down and left and right just isn’t enough!
The third feature that really helps beginners is the headless driving mode. Headless flying allows you to fly the drone according to the remotes joysticks and not based on the actual direction the drone is facing.
This also helps you keep the drone safe and from flying away since you use the direction of the remote and not the direction of the drone. It is not always the easiest to explain but it is very helpful.
Some other features that are pretty common with most drones include a 6 axis gyro and 2.4 gigahertz frequency.
It has a pretty short flight time of about 5 minutes but it only takes 30 to 50 minutes to charge. The distance is only good for about thirty meters as well.
The battery in the range are some other features where you really see a drop in performance at this price point. However, just have the right expectations for this drone and you will enjoy.
This lightweight drone will also not have to be registered with the FAA because it is under the half pound weight limit.
As you can imagine, at this price point most of the complaints talked about how cheap this drone feels. Or they are from people who did not take the time to learn how to fly this drone.
It is important to read the instruction manual and maybe even watch several videos before you fly this drone.
However, one thing to keep in mind is that this drone may not fly very well in the wind just check out this video below.
If you really want to get the most out of your drone you should buy extra batteries and spare parts upon ordering the drone itself.
Since these batteries only last for 5 minutes, you would be wise to buy a few extras so you’re flying sessions can last more than 5 minutes.
The batteries are relatively inexpensive and well worth the investment.
You should also invest in a few spare propellers and motors as well. If you’re having as much fun as we think you will the motors will burn out at some point and you will need to replace them.
You will also most likely experience a crash landing or two and my break a propeller.
All of these spare parts are relatively inexpensive and easy to change out so it is worth it to buy a few from the start to limit any downtime when making repairs.
Where To Buy?
We typically recommend Amazon when shopping online as they usually have the best prices and inventory. They’re also one of the most secure websites that you can shop at.
Another thing that we like is you can quickly and easily compare different models that you may be considering purchasing. There are also several hundred reviews for you to check out and see what other people are saying.
Finally, you should be able to qualify for free shipping if you buy some extra batteries with this drone to get over the $25 threshold.
Overall this drone is a relatively inexpensive drone compared to most others yet still provides plenty of flying fun.
Depending on your child’s age this could be a great first drone especially if you are worried about investing a lot of money up front. Or if you think they’re drone fascination will just be a phase, at least you know you have not spent a ton of money.
If you are just looking to get some flying action then this drone could be perfect.
