It is really going to depend on your personal preferences and what you are using the drone for.

If you are just flying the drone for fun and you may want to go with a drone that doesn’t have as good a camera but better flying features. If you are using the drone for business you may need to look for one with a better camera.

What To Look For

drones with a camera When looking to buy a drone with a camera there are few things to consider besides the flying aspects of the drone.

FPV – at this price point, some of these drones will offer the first-person view in of the live video feed. This going to be a really neat feature and but you probably won’t find it on each drone on this list.

The technology has come a long way in a short amount of time. The drone uses it’s on a WiFi connection to connect its camera to your smartphone and allow you to view the flight footage in real time.

Of course, some drones are better at this than others, while some drones they have a one or two-second delay on the video feed. So you cannot solely rely on the footage to fly the drone.

A few of these cameras even offer more advanced features with their app that allows you to see the FPV viewing. You might also be able to fly the drone with your phone in a gravity mode that just allows you to tell the phone to steer.

You may also be able to pre-program a flight path so flying the drone could be handed off.

Other Features

  • Megapixel – at this price point these cameras could range from .3 to 2 megapixels. Which is not a lot compared to many digital cameras these days, however, they will get the job done.

They probably won’t be able to take the most professional-looking videos but you should still expect some clear footage. You should also try to look for the frames per second specification. Some will shoot at 30fps which in create smooth videos for you.

  • Storage – some of these cameras will come with a storage card and others will not. So it is important to make sure that you know if it comes with it otherwise you will need to buy an SD storage card.

Usually, you don’t have to buy a big storage card, as most of the flight times on these drones are under 10 minutes so you probably won’t fill up the card with video.

Recommendations

As we mentioned earlier, there are several drones under $100 that come with cameras. However, after hours of research, we felt that these when the best-selling models giving you the best value.

1. Holy Stone F181 RC

Holy Stone F181 RCThe Holy Stone F181 drone is hard to beat. It is one of the Best Drones on Amazon with over 2,000 reviews and a 4.3-star rating.

While it does not offer FPV viewing, it comes with a 2-megapixel camera that shoots HD video in 720p resolution. Some have mentioned the video is a little shaky out-of-the-box but you can simply put a piece of foam between the camera and the drone itself.

This acts as a dampener to reduce most of the vibration that you see in the video.

Holy Stone is also known for their great customer service should you have any issues. You can simply reach out to them via email and expect to hear back from them promptly.

The reason we chose the F181 is our number one pick is that it has almost all the flying features that you can look for in a drone at this price point. Which means not only will you be able to take awesome pictures and video, you also have a ton of fun flying this drone.

The complaints seem to be from people who didn’t take a lot of time to learn how to fly it properly

2. DBPOWER MJX X400W FPV

DBPOWER MJX X400WThe DBPower MJX X400W is one of the better drones that offers the first person view in. This is a really neat feature.

The remote control has a clip that can hold your phone so you can see what the drone is seeing in real time. Their app also even allows you to connect it to a VR headset for a really awesome flying experience.

This does not have all the flying features as the F181 however, it totally makes up for it with the first person viewing.

The camera offers 720P HD video with 2 megapixels. So you should be able to get clear pictures and quality videos.

One downfall on this drone is you will have to assemble some of the parts like the landing gear. However, they include a screwdriver and also a few spare extra propellers.

It also has been mentioned that the instruction manual can be somewhat confusing. But, you should be able to find several videos online to help you figure out what you need to do.

3. Holy Stone X300C

Holy Stone X300CThe Holy Stone X300C is not quite as popular as the F181 however, it is still highly rated at 4.5 stars and almost 400 reviews.

This drone does not have his many of the flying features however it does offer FPV live video footage. However, it does have some of the more important flying features like headless mode.

It is also designed so that you can easily change out the propellers and motors when they break or burnout. It only has a 50 to 100m range, however, the battery offers a 10-minute flight time. This is probably one of the longer flight times on this list.

UDI U818A HD+The U818A is another drone with a camera under a hundred bucks. It comes with a 4.0-star rating and almost 2,000 reviews.

It comes with a solid, 2-megapixel camera that will take high-resolution videos and pictures, however, it does not offer the first person viewing.

This quadcopter does not have all of the fancy flying technologies, but this is one of the most durable drones on the market.

It is designed so that the blade guards are built into the main body of the drone which helps it take a beating. This could be a great one for younger kids or beginners.

They also include a second battery in the box which is very thoughtful of USA toyz. However, you will probably still want to buy an extra battery or two to limit your down time.

Besides the usual complaints, one guy said that his battery caught on fire when charging. Just as we mentioned earlier is important to maintain your batteries properly. This includes not overcharging.

Just really take the time to learn how to fly this drone before you take it outside. You may also have a better experience if you go out into an open field away from any interference that might cause the drone to lose the connection with the remote. Read full review

5. QCopter Green Drone

QCopter Green DroneWith a 4.1 star rating and over 700 reviews, the QCopter is another top contender.

If flight time is your main concern, this is the best one on the list. Each battery last for 15 minutes and they give you two in the box totaling 30 minutes of flight time out of the box.

You will probably need to get some extra storage cards for this drone since the long video footage could fill up one card quickly.

Like many other drones on this list, it comes with a 2-megapixel camera. Most of these cameras have to be a small one because they need to be lightweight so the drone can carry them and anything bigger would probably drain the battery really fast.

Overall, this should be a fun drone to fly that is not too difficult to assemble or learn.

That being said there are several reviews customers who could not get the drone to work properly right away and had to send it back. Keep in mind there’s some assembly required. As we mentioned with all these, you will just need to take your time learning how to fly it before taking it outside.

6. Holy Stone X400C

Holy Stone X400CWith a 4.4 star rating and over 500 reviews, Holy Stone has done it again when their X400C.

This is actually very similar to the X300 drone. The only difference is the design of how the drone looks and the camera is mounted on the outside of the drone instead of inside it.

Overall, you’ll see many happy customers just like the other Holy Stone drones. And when people did have problems they were contacted by support and usually offered replacement parts or replacement drones.

There are several reviewers speaking poorly of this drone but it seems many of their problems could have been prevented from following the instructions. Holy Stone even recommends taking a ten-minute break in between flights as the motors and the circuit board will heat up with us.

It is important to let everything cool off to keep the parts lasting as long as possible.

7. DoDoeleph Syma X5UW

DoDoeleph Syma X5UWThe Syma X5UW does not have as many reviews as a lot of the other drones on this list but still has a solid 4.4-star rating. It comes with many of the great flying features like altitude hold, one key takeoff, and landing as well as the 360° flip.

It comes with a 1 megapixel 720P HD camera that offers quality videos and pictures.

This drone stands out from the rest because of its phone app. The app that connects with your phone not only offers FPV viewing but it also allows you to control the drone with the app as well as pre-program a flight route.

It has similar flight times and flight ranges as most of the other drones.

There are several happy customers who have purchased this throne and several even say it is the best camera for the price point.

Most of the complaints are the typical ones, however, this drone may be a little lighter in the construction department. Several people mentioned slightly crashing the drone and it breaking.

8. Hubsan X4 Quadcopter

Hubsan X4 QuadcopterThe Hubsan X4 quadcopter is not as highly rated as some of the others but still made it on our list.

It offers live first-person viewing with a range of 100m for this which is one of the longest. The camera only offers 480p resolution but it does come with its own 4-inch display on the remote transmitter.

This is nice so you don’t have to use your smartphone. If you’re looking for a better camera than flying features this might not be the model for you as there are other better cameras out there.

You will have to attach the propellers but it does not take long, about 5 minutes and you might also have to charge the battery. However, you should take your time reading the manual and learning how to fly this before you jump right into it.

There seems to be a little more than usual of the typical complaints about this drone of it not working or feeling cheap. There’s only a 30-day return window on this so if you decide to go this route make sure you make a decision quickly.

Spare Parts

We always recommend buying some spare parts when you purchase your drone and it is no different when you are buying one with a camera. Especially for these drones under $100, they will not have the advanced technology that more expensive drones have.

This means you’ll likely crash it a time or two and break a propeller. Or you’ll burn out a motor since you’ll be flying it so much.

Don’t worry, however, this is common and part of regular maintenance for these lower-end drones. The spare parts are relatively cheap and easy to replace.

You may want to grab some extra storage cards even if your drone comes with one. This is because if you get extra batteries it will allow you to double, triple or even quadruple your flight time.

At this point, you may fill up the first card with video footage so you will need backups or a larger one to handle all of the footage.

Tips For Flying

Besides having fun, you will want to make sure that you stay safe as well as keep others safe when flying your drone with a camera under $100.

So, for you fly, you should do some research so that you are fully aware of the laws and regulations.

There are two great websites here that you can look at:

  • Know Before You Fly
  • Drone Registration

You may also want to look up the regulations of your state as some of them may have different requirements.

Practice – the second thing you should do after buying your drone is practice, practice practice! Just like with anything else in life, practice makes perfect.

You should read the instruction manual carefully so that you fully understand how your drone works. Before you fly for the first time, you should also watch a couple videos online so you can see it others with your exact drone using it in action.

Next, before you even take it outside, you should practice taking off and landing inside your house several times and even flying in around a little. In the reviews for every drone, you always hear people crashing it or flying it away and losing it on the first flight.

This could be avoided by taking your time learning how to fly.

Maintenance – as you begin flying your drone you should learn how to perform proper maintenance.

This may include:

  • maintaining the batteries
  • balancing the propellers
  • trimming the remote controls

Learning how to perform the maintenance yourself is going to keep your drone lasting longer as well as help you take better photography with your camera.

The better you take care of your drone the less vibration you will see in the video.

Other Tips

Stay out of the wind – these drones with cameras under $100 are probably going to be lightweight. Which means they will be tossed around in the Wind.

It can take a while to really learn how to fly with the wind so, in the beginning, you should fly your drone no higher than 10 to 20 ft. As you go higher, the winds will get stronger.

Flight time – even though many of these drones have been low battery alarm you should consider using a timer. The last thing you want to do is crash and damage your drone.

Using the timer will make sure that you have plenty of time to get your drone down to the ground before the battery runs out.

These are just a few main pointers you want to consider when flying your drone. However, you can read more about photography tips here.

Where To Buy

When shopping online we usually recommend Amazon. They usually have the best inventory as well as prices.

You’ll also be able to quickly compare any of these models that you may be considering and read hundreds of different reviews.

While everybody has their own opinions you can usually find some reviews that you can relate to.

Also, almost all these drones will have free shipping and you can also easily grab extra batteries, propellers or motors at checkout as well.

Conclusion on Best Drones With Camera

There you have it, these are recommendations.

They each had their own advantages and disadvantages so you’ll just need to make a list of your own pros and cons to see what features you want more.

Please just remember to stay safe and practice, practice, practice before you take it outside!
